Amazon to cut carbon emissions by half by 2030

Shipment Zero is Amazon’s program to lower emissions by making all shipments carbon free.

Amazon, the US eCommerce giant, is planning to deliver 50% of all shipments free of carbon emissions by 2030. The goal was set as part of the long term commitment made by the company to transform its supply chain so it is power only by renewable energy sources.

“With improvements in electric vehicles, aviation bio fuels, reusable packaging, and renewable energy, for the first time we can now see a path to net zero carbon delivery of shipments to customers, and we are setting an ambitious goal for ourselves..” Amazon announced in a statement.

The company also have more than 200 engineers and scientists tasked to create innovative ways to combat pollution and to lower the cost of shipments by making them environmentally friendly.
