Amazon to invest £481m in Deliveroo

Amazon, the American online retailer giant, will invest £481m in the food delivery company Deliveroo. The firm tried to compete with other big names in the industry with its Amazon Restaurant but couldn’t as companies like UberEats and   Just Eat have taken over the market.

“With this funding, Deliveroo will continue to build its world-class service – bringing customers the food they want whenever and wherever they want it, offering even more work for riders, and helping restaurants to grow their businesses by reaching new customers,” said Deliveroo.

Deliveroo will use the money to grow its engineering team to develop new products and innovation. Recently the company announced a new click and collect service where customers can get their food delivered to a particular location that is not their home.
