XPO Logistics, a leading global provider of transport and logistics solutions, has been selected by British Gypsum to optimise its UK supply chain with a single, digitally-managed transportation network. British Gypsum is part of the Saint-Gobain Group and the UK’s leading manufacturer of plasters, plasterboard and high-performance drylining systems for the construction industry.
XPO will create an integrated transportation network for British Gypsum using a customised delivery model deployed on XPO Connect, the company’s proprietary, cloud-based platform. Distribution will take place from British Gypsum’s five manufacturing plants and four outbases in the UK. Additionally, XPO will manage all downstream processes, including load securing, yard management and weighbridge operations.
Collaboration brings the revenue in humanitarian logistics
XPO will make a significant investment in new fleet dedicated to the British Gypsum network, using vehicles outfitted with telematics and cutting-edge safety technology. The vehicles will meet the Direct Vision Standard for heavy goods transport, designed to protect vulnerable road users, as well as the FORS/CLOCS accreditations for road risk management.
Brian Fisher, distribution manager, British Gypsum, said, “XPO has the scale and vision to help us manage our growth, while serving our customers with greater efficiency and a zero-harm safety ethos. We look forward to a long and collaborative partnership in the UK.”
