Daimler has announced it is partnering with the US battery startup Sila Nanotechnologies Inc. (Sila Nano).The startup is best known for looking into way to make battery life better by at least 20% using silicon.
It is believed that the Sila Nano technology is much better than the existing lution Ion batteries currently on the market.
The move from Daimler shows its commitment in the field as the corporations has previously said it expects that the automotive industry will turn electric. The plans are by 2022 all new Mercedes-Benz to be electric.

While our all-new EQC model enters the markets this year we are already preparing the way for the next generation of powerful battery electric vehicles. Lithium-ion technology is currently the most efficient battery technology available, and still shows plenty of potential for the future. The advancements Sila Nano have made in battery performance are very promising. We are looking forward to a fruitful cooperation, pooling our know-how on further development and fast commercialization,” said Sajjad Khan, Executive Vice President for Connected, Autonomous, Shared & Electric Mobility, Daimler AG.
