DS Smith, the supplier of packaging solutions, has created the world’s first compostable and water resistant bird box made out of recycled cardboard, the company announced.
The boxes are covered with water-resistant coating that allows them to stay intact under any conditions. They are completely recyclable and at the end of their life can be composted. The biggest advantage of the boxes is that large quantities of them can be transported cheaply as they fold and take less space.
The project is being tested and DS Smith are in conversation with multiple charities and school in the UK to promote its initiative.
